About D-backs Baseball Academy

D-backs Baseball Academy, presented by Grand Canyon University, is made up of five distinct subcategories that offer unique opportunities to be connected with Arizona Diamondbacks, they are: Youth Camps, Fantasy Camp, Chase Field Experiences, Coach Training and Player, Coach & Volunteer of the Month. Chevrolet is also a participating sponsor. You will find additional details under each tab on the left, here are a few highlighted bullet points regarding each of the categories:

Youth Camps:

• Camps offered year round when kids are on school break, statewide
• Camp curriculum endorsed by the D-backs Baseball staff
• Ages 6-18, with bulk of camps geared towards players ages 6-14

Fantasy Camp:

• Ultimate D-backs baseball experience for the ultimate D-backs baseball fan
• Camp held annually in January at D-backs Spring Training home
• Open to men and women ages 30 and above

Chase Field Experiences:

• D-backs themed experiences on MLB field
• Exclusive look on and behind the scenes of Chase Field
• Multi-day youth camp in July and post game Batting Practice opportunity in August

Coach Training:

• Education for youth coaches from around the world
• D-backs philosophy on coaching youths and current baseball environment
• Importance of emphasizing FUNdamentals of the game

Player, Coach & Volunteer of the Month:

• Recognition of outstanding player, coach or volunteer in the Arizona community
• Monthly, one youth player, one youth coach, and one sports team volunteer will be selected during D-backs regular season
• Each winner will receive a $500 grant for their organization/team/school, D-backs jersey, batting practice experience, meet and greet with Cody Ross and four D-backs lower level tickets

Summer Youth Camps

Register now for D-backs Baseball Academy summer youth baseball and softball camps. Camps are for boys and girls age 6-14 and run throughout June and July at locations around the state. Camps are $175 per person and include a T-shirt, hat, and free ticket to a 2013 D-backs game with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discount.

Registration is also available for the Batting Practice Experience, which will take place at Chase Field following the Sunday, August 11 D-backs game. This camp is open to everyone, age 6 and older and is $100 per person.

The D-backs Baseball Academy, presented by Grand Canyon University, is the official year-round baseball and fast-pitch softball instruction division of the Arizona Diamondbacks. A variety of camps and clinics are offered throughout the calendar year, hosted at facilities such as Chase Field, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Grand Canyon University as well as local parks throughout the Greater Phoenix area.

The D-backs Baseball Academy, now in its 13th season, has taught thousands of kids to "Learn to Play the D-backs' Way!"

To ensure quality instruction, enrollment is limited to a 1:10 ratio of instructor-to-student. In fact, you will often see smaller group sizes to provide the best possible learning environment.

Each camp day and session is highly choreographed to maximize participation and activity time. Our instructors are handpicked by the organization from a group of former professional players, as well as the best local collegiate and high school coaches. Fast-pitch softball camps are instructed by collegiate fast-pitch standouts.

Batting Practice Experience • Sunday, August 11 • Chase Field

Register now for the Batting Practice Experience, which will take place Sunday, August 11 at Chase Field following the D-backs game vs. the Mets. This camp is open to everyone, age 6 and older, and is $100 per person. The Batting Practice Experience includes a T-shirt, hat, and free ticket to a 2013 D-backs game with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discount. Registration also includes a ticket to the August 11 game. Following the game, participants will participate in batting practice, cage work, and fielding at Chase Field.

D-backs outfielder Cody Ross along with the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and the D-backs Baseball Academy would like to recognize outstanding youth players, coaches, and dedicated team volunteers in the community on a monthly basis during the 2013 D-backs season. Monthly, one youth player (ages 6-18), one youth coach (up to high school level), and one sports team volunteer will be selected from submitted nominations.

D-backs Baseball Academy Coach Training gives coaches and parents the opportunity to learn techniques to teach youth the fundamentals of baseball. Content covered includes team administration, D-backs coaching philosophy, practice, organization/management, game management/strategy and an overview of the basic fundamentals.
