Walk for the Kids
The Oriole Bird was front and center to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County at the 2013 Walk for the Kids at Ed Smith Stadium.

The Oriole Bird led a throng of more than 200 walkers around Ed Smith Stadium on Sept. 14 during the annual Walk for the Kids to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County on Sept. 14 at Ed Smith Stadium. Orioles Minor League players joined in the fun at the Orioles' year-round sports and entertainment facility to raise funds for the four local clubs, which are located in Newtown, central Sarasota, Venice and North Port.

"In the two years that the event has been held at Ed Smith Stadium, it has raised more than $105,000 to support our clubs where we strive to provide a world-class experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors," said Bill Sadlo, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County. "Our goal is to have all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. Our clubs provide after-school and summer programs for thousands of children and youth ages 6 to 18 throughout Sarasota County."

"The Boys & Girls Clubs and Major League Baseball share a special, national partnership, and the Orioles are strong supporters of the local organization," said David Rovine, Vice President, Orioles Sarasota.

Supporting Walk for the Kids is part of the Orioles' Sarasota 365 outreach program, demonstrating the organization's year-round engagement with the community. In addition to leading the Walk, the Bird appeared in TV spots, while Orioles Major League players participated in video spots promoting the Walk.
