A's acquire J.D. Closser from Milwaukee for Charles Thomas in Minor League trade 05/04/2007 9:30 PM ETOakland Athletics
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's today acquired catcher J.D. Closser from the Milwaukee Brewers organization for outfielder Charles Thomas in a minor league trade. Closser was batting .188 with nine runs, two home runs and six RBI in 17 games for Nashville, the Brewers Triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League. He also had 11 walks and a .328 on-base percentage. Closser has a .239 career average with 10 home runs and 48 RBI in 160 major league games over three seasons for Colorado (2004-06). The 27-year old Closser has a .283 average in his minor league career with 87 home runs and 428 RBI in 772 games. Thomas was batting .230 (17 for 74) with five RBI in 22 games with Triple-A Sacramento this season. The 28-year old has a .259 career average with seven home runs and 32 RBI in 113 career major league games with Atlanta (2004) and Oakland (2005). The 2007 and career statistics for Closser follows:
