OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics recalled infielder Adam Rosales and outfielder Michael Taylor and selected right-handed pitcher Andrew Carignan from Triple-A Sacramento, the team announced today. The team also reinstated right-handed pitcher Michael Wuertz from the disabled list. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Carignan, the A's moved infielder Daric Barton to the 60-day DL.

Rosales joins the A's for his third stint this year. He began the season on the 60-day DL with a fractured right foot and was reinstated June 6. He appeared in 12 games with Oakland before he was optioned to Sacramento July 16. Rosales then returned Aug. 2 and played five games before he was sent back to Sacramento Aug. 13.

Taylor will be making his Major League debut. He was acquired by the A's Dec. 16, 2009 from Toronto after the Blue Jays acquired him in a three-team trade in which they sent Roy Halladay to Philadelphia and the Phillies sent Cliff Lee to Seattle. Taylor was batting .272 with 16 home runs and 64 RBI in 93 games with the River Cats.

Carignan will also be making his Major League debut. He did not allow a run in 12.0 innings over his final eight games with the River Cats. Carignan was 1-0 with a 1.85 ERA in 33 relief appearances between Sacramento, Double-A Midland and Single-A Stockton this season, recording 46 strikeouts in 39.0 innings.

Wuertz had been placed on the 15-day disabled list July 30 with right thumb tendinitis. It was his second stint on the DL this year as he was also out from April 2 to 24 with a strained left hamstring. Wuertz began a rehab assignment with Stockton Sunday against Inland Empire and pitched a scoreless seventh inning. He was then transferred to Sacramento Wednesday and tossed a 1-2-3 seventh inning for the River Cats against Las Vegas, striking out two.
