Amanda McCarthy, wife of A's pitcher Brandon McCarthy, spearheaded a silent auction and charity drive on Tuesday night at the Coliseum, with all proceeds benefiting the wildfire victims of Colorado.
Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs is currently being used as a shelter, so the McCarthys rounded up memorabilia from the A's, Giants and other sports stars to be sold via auction. Several California wineries also contributed merchandise.
The night's top item was a game-used ball from Dallas Braden's perfect game, and the A's announced that the auction raised a total of $8,066 for the Colorado wildfire victims.
