September 20, 1968 > Future Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees hits the final home run of his Major League career. Mantle, who connects against Jim Lonborg of the Boston Red Sox to finish with 536 home runs, will announce his retirement during the spring of 1969.
