This Day in Baseball History:
November 24, 1953 > The Brooklyn Dodgers name little-known Walter Alston to be their manager. Alston will lead the Dodgers to their first World Championship over the hated Yankees in 1955, and guide them to three more titles after they migrate to Los Angeles. He will retire following the 1976 season with 2,040 career victories and be elected to the Hall of Fame in 1983.
