A's rally to win AL West title
By John Schlegel / MLB.com
SEATTLE -- Just when it looked like they might have to wait to taste champagne until they got to Texas, the Oakland A's celebrated in Seattle, after all.

Miguel Tejada came through with another performance worthy of his MVP candidacy and Scott Hatteberg did the rest in the clutch, as the A's came back for a dramatic 5-3 victory in 10 innings Thursday that clinched Oakland's second AL West title in three years.
The victory also stands as the A's 100th win of the season, marking the first back-to-back 100-win seasons since the A's came to Oakland in 1968.
With one out in the top of the ninth, Tejada delivered like he has so many times before this season. This time, Tejada knocked a game-tying solo homer to the opposite field, just over the fence in the right-field corner, off Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki.
In the 10th, after M's reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa (8-3) put runners on first and second with walks, Hatteberg delivered a line drive down the left-field line for a two-run double that sealed the game. Tejada added an RBI single to center for the final margin.
A's closer Billy Koch (11-4) finished off the victory with two innings of work, allowing one run in the 10th. Carlos Guillen led off the Mariners' 10th with a double to right-center and advanced home on a pair of groundouts before Koch got Ichiro Suzuki to ground out to second to finish the game.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Mariners put the potential winning run on third with two outs against Koch, but he emerged from the jam, getting Mike Cameron on a called third strike after a colossal battle.
The Mariners scored their first two runs in the fourth, when Bret Boone and Cameron socked back-to-back homers off A's starter Cory Lidle, who otherwise put together a solid eight innings of work.
Seattle starter Joel Pineiro combined with three Mariners relievers to hold down the A's until Tejada's blast in the ninth. Tejada posted his second four-hit game of the season, the fifth of his career.
Oakland drew within a run in the eighth after Seattle reliever Jeff Nelson issued back-to-back walks to start the inning and John Mabry eventually scored on Greg Myers' dribbling groundout down the first-base line.
Pineiro kept the A's from getting a hit the first time through the lineup, but leadoff man Ray Durham registered the first safety with a ground-rule double with two outs in the third. But that inning ended when Tejada grounded into a fielder's choice.
Lidle did a good job of holding the Mariners down except for the two long balls in the fourth. In his last start of the regular season, Lidle allowed just five hits, walked just one and struck out four.
While the AL West champion A's travel to Texas, second-place Anaheim, which Thursday clinched its first postseason berth since 1986 against the Rangers, will host the Mariners as the regular season wraps up.
