The hardware just keeps coming for the Oakland A's, who on Wednesday saw another of their young stars recognized for season-long excellence. This time it's third baseman Eric Chavez, who was named the American League's Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner at third base for the second season in a row.
Chavez, who last week was given a Silver Slugger Award as the best offensive third baseman in the league, now can quite clearly lay claim to the title of the AL's best all-around third baseman.
The award comes a day after A's shortstop Miguel Tejada was named the AL MVP and less than a week after lefty Barry Zito was named the AL Cy Young winner.
