Scutaro coming up clutch in Venezuela
A's infielder has hit in all seven games for Leones del Caracas

This week, Scutaro displayed the peskiness and timely hitting that earned him the nickname "Señor Clutch" in the Venezuelan Winter League. He went 8-for-22 with three walks, a stolen base, six runs scored and an RBI, and he is now hitting an even .400 in 30 at-bats. In fact, the native Venezuelan has a hit in all seven games he's played for the Leones del Caracas.
Along with Scutaro, several other Oakland A's prospects are playing in the various fall and winter leagues this offseason. Here's how they performed from Nov. 9-15.
Arizona Fall League
2B Kevin Melillo -- Melillo went 5-for-13 with two doubles to raise his average to .233. The 24-year-old Floridian has one home run and 10 RBIs in 90 at-bats with the Phoenix Desert Dogs.
C Landon Powell -- Powell was hitless in 11 at-bats, but he picked up six walks. The 24-year-old backstop is hitting .173 with two doubles and two RBIs in 52 at-bats.
OF Richie Robnett -- After going 2-for-4 with a home run in his debut on Nov. 8, Robnett went 4-for-10 with two triples and a double in three games.
RHP Marcus McBeth -- McBeth allowed two runs on two hits and a pair of walks in one inning on Nov. 9. He's 1-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in 10 frames.
RHP Michael Mitchell -- Mitchell continued his strong AFL season, yielding just one walk over two shutout innings. The St. Louis native is now 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA in 10 1/3 frames.
RHP Connor Robertson -- Robertson also tossed a pair of scoreless innings this week, picking up a win and a save. After giving up nine runs over his first seven appearances, the 25-year-old native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., has kept the opposition scoreless in his last five outings.
Mexican Pacific League
OF Doug Clark -- Clark went 4-for-13 with five runs scored in four games for the Mayos de Navojoa. The 30-year-old native of Springfield, Mass., is batting .291 with five homers, 16 RBIs and 21 walks in 86 at-bats.
Venezuelan Winter League
OF Charles Thomas -- Thomas went 6-for-20 with three doubles and six RBIs for the Tiburones de La Guaira. The 27-year-old Californian is hitting .286 in 35 at-bats.
SS Gregorio Petit -- Petit went hitless in 10 at-bats as his average fell to .286. He has two home runs and eight RBIs in 56 at-bats.
LHP Leonardo Martinez -- Martinez gave up two hits in two scoreless innings on Nov. 12. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
RHP Victor Moreno -- Moreno surrendered one run on two hits without a walk or strikeout in two innings on Nov. 9. The 27-year-old Venezuelan is 3-2 with a 5.17 ERA in 15 2/3 innings.
