Angels at the plate: Reggie Willits followed an infield single by Tommy Murphy and a double by Curtis Pride with a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the top of the third inning. The Halos picked up an unearned run in the eighth on an RBI groundout by Bobby Wilson.
A's at the plate: Mike Piazza went 1-for-3 to close out the Arizona portion of his first Oakland camp with a batting average of .373, three home runs and 16 RBIs in 19 games.
Angels on the mound: Righty starter Nick Adenhart, who was reassigned to Minor League camp March 18 but was back with the big-league club on loan for the day, held Oakland to three hits and two walks over five shutout innings. Righty setup man Justin Speier worked a perfect sixth.
A's on the mound: Righty starter Dan Haren, in his final tuneup for the first Opening Day start of his career, gave up one run on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 4 1/3 innings. Closer Huston Street took over for Haren and retired both batters he faced to keep his ERA at 0.00 over 10 outings this spring.

Up next: A's righty Esteban Loaiza will get the ball Thursday in Sacramento against Oakland's Triple-A club, the Sacramento River Cats, in a 7:05 p.m. start at Raley Field. The Angels will split their squad Thursday, with righty Matt Hensley facing lefty Chris Capuano of the host Brewers at 12:05 p.m. in Phoenix, and righty Hector Carrasco taking on lefty Randy Wolf of the host Dodgers in Los Angeles at 7:10 p.m.
