Lefty Lenny DiNardo will be making his second consecutive start for the A's, and he will be facing his former team. DiNardo played in Boston from 2004 to 2006 and was part of the 2004 team that won the World Series.

DiNardo went 5 1/3 innings in a loss to Texas on May 29, allowing four runs but just one was earned. He pitched 4 2/3 innings of long relief in his previous appearance against the White Sox on May 22, allowing just a hit.

DiNardo has allowed only one earned run over his last 12 innings.

The traveling show that is Daisuke Matsuzaka makes his first appearance in Oakland this season. He has never faced the A's and is coming off rough outings in his last two starts. He has given up 11 earned runs in 10 2/3 innings.

Player to watch
Nick Swisher is the most patient hitter on the A's and one of the most patient hitters in baseball, ranking sixth with 41 walks as of Monday. Matsuzaka has had games where he has walked four and five batters and Swisher will more than likely force him to throw strikes.
