It will be hard to outdo his last outing, but Joe Blanton will give it a try as the Oakland A's go after their sixth straight win and a series sweep against the Boston Red Sox.

The A's righty took an hour and 49 minutes to toss a three-hit shutout against the Twins on Saturday, and he will be on the mound in the final game of a four-game series with Boston.

Blanton has made one start this year against the Red Sox as it came on May 1 in Boston. Blanton was solid, but didn't figure into the decision as he pitched seven innings and gave up four runs.

The A's wound up winning the game, 5-4, and were facing Red Sox starter Curt Schilling, who will be facing Blanton once again on Thursday at McAfee Coliseum.

Blanton gave up three runs in the first inning in that previous start, settling in over his last six innings. The A's rallied for two runs in the ninth on a two-run homer by Travis Buck off Boston closer Jonathan Papelbon before winning in the 10th.
