Giants at the plate: Emmanuel Burriss drilled an RBI double in the third inning, Roger Kieschnick hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth. Kieschnick, Burriss and Aaron Rowand each had two hits.

A's at the plate: Jason Giambi hit his first home run of the spring, a towering two-run shot to right field in the first inning. Landon Powell followed Giambi's shot with another, his second spring homer. Orlando Cabrera, the starting designated hitter in his Oakland debut, chipped in with an RBI single, and non-roster invitee Joe Dillon added a two-run double.

Giants on the mound: Right-hander Joe Martinez gave up three runs in the first inning, but none of them were earned because they came after a two-out passed ball by catcher Steve Holm. Martinez allowed three hits, zero walks and struck out two over four innings. Righty Billy Sadler followed Martinez and gave up two runs on one hit and two walks over two-thirds of an inning before leaving with a cut fingernail, and lefty Jack Taschner also had a tough outing, allowing three unearned runs on two hits and a walk in one inning of work.

A's on the mound: Lefty starter Dallas Braden gave up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings. Andrew Bailey threw a shutout inning, James Simmons gave up a run on four hits over two innings, and Ryan Webb gave up a run on two hits in one inning.

Cactus League records: Giants 8-10, A's 9-7-1.

Up next: The Giants are back home in Scottsdale on Sunday to take on the Royals. Lefty Barry Zito will make his fourth start of the spring for San Francisco. ... The A's will be on the road Sunday, with lefty prospect Brett Anderson scheduled to start against the Angels. Infielder Nomar Garciaparra might make his Oakland debut in the game.
