Chavez scratched with elbow pain
Infielder removed from lineup just minutes before game
ARLINGTON -- A's infielder Eric Chavez was scratched from the lineup minutes before Thursday afternoon's game against the Rangers.
Chavez has a strained right forearm, according to the A's media relations department.
"Eric's elbow flared up during batting practice," manager Bob Geren said. "We'll make a decision on him [Friday]. He's a potential candidate for the DL."
Chavez has not played since last Friday, and he has appeared in just three games since April 12. He's batting .100 this season.
Chavez was slated to play third base.
