Rockies Press Release
Rockies and ROOT SPORTS partner for "Batter Up 4 Kids"
Every hit counts, every kid counts
The COLORADO ROCKIES are pleased to announce a partnership with ROOT SPORTS™ to benefit Children's Hospital Colorado and Special Olympics Colorado with a new charitable campaign called "Batter Up 4 Kids." Beginning today, all fans and even Rockies players can donate to the campaign by going online at www.Rockies.com/BatterUp to select one or more of their favorite Rockies player(s) for the first half, the second half or the entire Rockies season.
The total donation for the Batter Up 4 Kids program is determined by the number of hits ($1 per single, $2 per double, $3 per triple and $4 per home run) that player(s) has in your chosen time frame, with the half-season mark being the All-Star break. Starting on the season opener in Miami, on Monday, March 31, the campaign's dedicated web page, www.Rockies.com/BatterUp, will start tracking each player's statistics throughout the season, so fans and players can track their donation on any given day, and they can jump on board at any point in the season, with their credit card charged at the end of the regular season. One-time donations to the cause are also permitted through the same web page. All proceeds from the Batter Up 4 Kids campaign directly benefit Children's Hospital Colorado and Special Olympics Colorado. Every donor choosing a player will receive an "I backed" button and will be entered for an opportunity to win one of over 10 prizes, including autographed items.
"We are very pleased to again share a baseball themed program with ROOT SPORTS that benefits so many people in our community," said COLORADO ROCKIES Owner/Chairman and CEO Dick Monfort."The program is a great opportunity for our fans to combine the elements that make baseball a great game to follow and enjoy, while also supporting both Children's Hospital Colorado and Special Olympics Colorado."
"We are thrilled to partner with the COLORADO ROCKIES on the Batter Up 4 Kids campaign," said David Woodman, General Manager of ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain region. "This unique program not only gives fans a way to support their favorite players, but benefits two outstanding organizations as well."
