Montreal's Terrmel Sledge named National League Pepsi Rookie of the Month for May
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
Terrmel Sledge of the Montreal Expos, who batted .316 with 12 RBI, was voted National League Pepsi Rookie of the Month for May.

Sledge recorded 24 hits in 76 at bats, including four home runs, two doubles and a triple. He scored 10 runs, and compiled a .366 on-base percentage and a .526 slugging percentage in 25 games. The 27-year-old rookie was the Expos Minor League Player of the Year in 2003, winning the system's triple crown with a .324 average, 22 homers and 92 RBI. He began the 2004 season 0-for-22, but after getting his first Major League hit on April 19, Sledge has gone 22-for-52, a .423 clip.

Other rookies receiving votes included: Philadelphia's Ryan Madson (2-0, 1.35 ERA, 13 SO); Kaz Matsui (.273, 3 HR, 11 RBI) of the Mets; Colorado's Matt Holliday (5 HR, 12 RBI); Montreal's Chad Cordero (1-0, 0.50 ERA, 15 SO); Atlanta's Nick Green (.304, 1 HR, 7 RBI); San Diego's Akinori Otsuka (2-1, 2.19 ERA, 16 SO); Pittsburgh's Jason Bay (.300, 2 HR, 8 RBI); Jason Grabowski (.283, 4 HR, 8 RBI) of the Dodgers; So Taguchi (.400, 1 HR, 3 RBI) of the Cardinals; and San Francisco's Tyler Walker (3-0, 3.86 ERA, 7 SO).

Terrmel Sledge will receive a specially designed award for being voted National League Pepsi Rookie of the Month.
