OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's today announced that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Gaudin from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned outfielder Bobby Kielty to Sacramento.
Gaudin was 2-0 with a 0.52 ERA in three games, all starts, with Sacramento. Opponents were batting .196 and he had not allowed a home run in 17.1 innings. The 23-year old Gaudin was 1-0 with a 7.43 ERA in six games, three starts, with the A's this spring. He was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on December 5, 2005 for outfielder Dustin Majewski and is 4-5 with a 5.46 ERA in 46 career Major League appearances, including 10 starts.
Kielty was recalled from Sacramento a week ago today when Jay Witasick went on the Disabled List and appeared in just one game for Oakland, going 0 for 4 in a start in left field on Wednesday against Detroit. In seven games with the River Cats, Kielty hit .267 with one home run and four RBI. He was optioned to Sacramento just prior to the start of the season on April 1.
