OAKLAND -- Prior to today's game against the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland Athletics placed outfielder Milton Bradley on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 3rd with a strained right calf and recalled Donnie Murphy from Triple-A Sacramento.
Bradley left the game in the fifth inning of Saturday night's game against Minnesota with a strained right calf and has sat out each of the last five games. He was originally penciled into Wednesday night's lineup vs. Boston, but was scratched after batting practice. This marks Bradley's third stint on the disabled list this season. He was on the DL from April 23 to May 10 with a strained left hamstring and was also on the DL from May 15-29 with the same injury.
This is also Bradley's 11th career stint on the disabled list and his fifth trip to the DL in two seasons with the A's.
Murphy was batting .342 with 15 RBI and two home runs in 30 games with Triple-A Sacramento this season. This marks his second stint with Oakland this season. He was recalled the first time on May 23rd when Bradley went on the 15-day disabled list and was optioned back to Sacramento on June 1st when Mark Kotsay was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list. He appeared in one game on May 26th at Baltimore.
The A's have used the disabled list a total of 14 times this season and currently have 10 players on the DL.
