A's return home to face Rays and White Sox; Snapfish Fan Photo Day set for Saturday

Promotions and Special Events:
IndyCar to Drive Ziegler to Ballpark: On Wednesday, Aug. 13, A's pitcher Brad Ziegler, who has begun his career with a 37-inning scoreless streak, a modern Major League record, will be rewarded for his efforts by riding in style to the A's 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. Ziegler will be passenger in a street-legal, two-seat IndyCar that will be driven by Davey Hamilton, a former driver in the IndyCar Series. The ride will begin at Jack London Square, next to Scott's Seafood Grill on Broadway Street in Oakland, at 1:30 p.m. and culminate at McAfee Coliseum under a California Highway Patrol escort. The drive is also to promote the upcoming PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County at Infineon Raceway, Aug. 22 to 24.

Silence the Violence Campaign: The Oakland Athletics have teamed up with the Ella Baker Center's Silence the Violence campaign and the Office of Oakland Mayor Ronald Dellums for the Third Annual "Silence the Violence Day with the Oakland A's" event and baseball game on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at McAfee Coliseum to help promote peace and opportunity on the streets of Oakland. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the Job & Resource Fair / Silence the Violence Tailgate BBQ for area youth, taking place in the K Lot of the Coliseum parking lot. Mayor Dellums, Bay Area hip-hop legend Too Short and Executive Director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Jakada Imani will appear on the field during batting practice. A moment of silence will be observed in honor of those lost to violence before the start of the game.

A's Dog Day at the Park: The Third Annual A's Dog Day at the Park, presented by AvoDerm & Nylabone, will take place on Friday, Aug. 15 for the A's 7:05 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox. A pre-game "pup rally" will take place in K Lot from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will feature pet contests such as best dressed, best trick and dog that looks most like its owner, in addition to various games and raffle prizes. Each dog in attendance will receive a goodie bag containing an A's bandana, samples of dry dog food from AvoDerm and a dog treat from Nylabone. A portion of the proceeds from A's Dog Day at the Park will benefit Dogs4Diabetics, a non-profit organization that trains medical-alert service dogs to detect hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) in humans and alert their partner or other family member of the situation.

Snapfish Fan Photo Day: Before the A's vs. White Sox game on Saturday, Aug. 16, A's fans can take the field on the warning track to snap photos of A's players. After the game fans are encouraged to upload their photos on Snapfish.com where they can get enlargements, make customized photo books and order merchandise featuring the photos they took.

America Supports You Program: The A's have teamed up with the America Supports You program, a Department of Defense program highlighting the support of the American people for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The A's join the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Earthquakes and San Jose SaberCats in an effort to help raise funds for Operation: Care and Comfort, an America Supports You homefront group that has shipped 200 tons of care packages for distribution to Marine, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel deployed in conflict regions since 2003. The A's will honor members of the United States Armed Forces through the A's Third Annual "Salute to Armed Forces Day" which is set for Saturday, Aug. 16. Pre-game ceremonies for the A's 12:55 p.m. game against the White Sox will feature a flyover, color guard and flag ceremony.

A's Player Appearance: Ryan Sweeney will sign autographs at Outpost Sports Bar & Grill, located at 2251 San Ramon Valley Boulevard in San Ramon, following the A's 12:55 pm game against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Dave Henderson 1990's Retro Jersey Day: Ten thousand fans will receive a 1990's Dave Henderson Retro Jersey, courtesy of Shell Vacations Club, prior to the 1:05 p.m. game on Sunday, Aug. 17. In addition, Henderson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the A's vs. White Sox game.

A's Celebrate 40th Anniversary Season In Oakland: Fans can vote on-line on the A's official website-oaklandathletics.com/40-to determine the 40 Greatest Moments in Oakland A's History, along with the selection of the A's 40th Anniversary team. The countdown of the Top 10 moments in Oakland A's history will begin in-stadium on Diamond Vision beginning on Sept. 11, with the top moment in Oakland history unveiled on Sept. 21. The A's 40th Anniversary team will be introduced during a pre-game ceremony on Sept. 20.

Perfect Pushup "Get Ripped Challenge": Fans can enter to win a chance to participate in one of six Perfect Pushup "Get Ripped Challenges," in which two A's fans will face off in a pre-game Perfect Pushup challenge. In addition, each participant will meet an A's player, win a set of Perfect Pushups and receive two tickets to the challenge game date. The "Get Ripped Challenge" dates remaining for this season are: Aug. 29 and Sept. 19. Fans can sign up the A's Guest Relations booth behind Section 119 at A's home games or send an email to perfectpushup@bodyrev.com, subject line Get Ripped Challenge.

Community Relations
Green Stampede Homework Club: Before selected A's home games, teachers and volunteers from Oakland public schools offer tutoring for at-risk students at McAfee Coliseum. Students who attend the study group are rewarded with tickets to that night's game. If a student shows up to all eight of the study groups they will be rewarded with a visit from an A's player for a question and answer session and autographs. The second session meets between Aug. 12 and Sept. 19.

Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team: Prior to the game on Wednesday, Aug. 13, this year's Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team (BAASST) will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony. BAASST, a partnership between Bay Area sports teams established in 1996, presents six successful students with a $3,000 college scholarship each year.

Food Bank Wednesdays: The A's Community Fund will hold a food drive to benefit the Alameda County Community Food Bank every Wednesday home game during the season. For each can of food donated at either Gates C and D or the BART Plaza entrance, fans will receive a certificate for one Plaza Level Outfield ticket to a specified future A's game (four certificate limit).

A's Amigos: Prior to the game on Friday, Aug. 15, an A's player will speak to a group of Hispanic children on the importance of education, sportsmanship and hard work. In addition to the pre-game visit, each child will receive a game ticket and an A's hat. The A's Amigos program is sponsored by Kelly-Moore Paints.

Buses for Baseball: With the partnership of the MLB Players Trust, the Buses for Baseball program allows underprivileged children to attend baseball games as guests of the Oakland A's. The children will get the opportunity to meet A's players before the game and will receive food vouchers.

A's Kids Club: During select Saturday home games a member of the A's Kid's Club will bring Aquafina water to the umpires and one child will "steal" third base, during select Sunday games a child will be a guest public address announcer and "steal a base" and for designated Wednesday games a Kid's Club member will help the grounds crew during pre-game field preparation. Prior to the select home games, A's Kid's Club members will be invited to watch batting practice from the field. Children can join the A's Kids Club online at oaklandathletics.com. For a membership fee of $20 the child will receive a soft sided lunch box that includes a membership card, water bottle, autograph book and A's dog tags as well as a booklet of various coupons and discounts. The A's Kids Club is sponsored by the Oakland Zoo, Monterey Bay Aquarium and Round Table Pizza.

Community Days: The A's Community Days program provides non-profit groups with complimentary A's tickets to select regular season home games.

Little A's: The A's will treat children from Bay Area youth groups from low to moderate-income families to the game on Thursday, Aug. 14 and Sunday, Aug. 17. In addition to a game ticket, each child will receive an A's pin and a pennant. The Little A's program is sponsored by Union Bank of California and supported by Clorox.

A's Community Fund Silent Auction: The A's will host silent auctions of various sports memorabilia behind section 120 during all Saturday and Sunday home dates during the season. Proceeds benefit the A's Community Fund and other local charities. The silent auction partner on Saturday, Aug. 16 is the Prostate Cancer Foundation. In addition, as part of the A's Fitness Sluggers program, sponsored by the Perfect Pushup and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, fans who make a $5 donation to various programs that fight child obesity will receive an A's pedometer.

Take The Field With The A's: Prior to the game on Sunday, Aug. 17, selected Little Leaguers will accompany A's players as they take the field, courtesy of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. The children stand with the players during the National Anthem and receive an autographed ball from A's players.

Race Around The Bases: Following every Sunday afternoon game, children 14 and under will have a chance to race around the bases, courtesy of Oh Boy! Oberto Beef Jerky. Samples of Oh Boy! Oberto Beef Jerky will be distributed to children who participate.

Ticket Offers
Kids Summer Games: For the selected home games, children ages 14 and under can purchase $5 Field Level Outfield tickets (maximum four kids tickets for each full price Field Level Outfield ticket purchased). The remaining Kids Summer games for this season are Aug. 12 and 14 vs. Tampa Bay, Aug. 15 vs. Chicago and Aug. 28-29 and 31 against Minnesota.

BART Double Play Wednesday: Fans may purchase Plaza Outfield and Plaza Reserved tickets for $2 and hot dogs for just $1 on any Wednesday home game during the season.

Cache Creek Saturday: The first 5,000 adult fans through the gates for Saturday home games will receive an instant scratcher card sponsored by Cache Creek Casino Resort. Prizes will include merchandise, discounts on merchandise, tickets, discounts on tickets, autograph baseballs and more.

A's Family Fun Pack Games: On 10 select dates during the season, fans may purchase four Field Level Outfield tickets and four meals (hot dog, chips, small soda) for just $80 ($150 value). The remaining A's Family Fun Pack game for this season will be Sept. 16 vs. Los Angeles. The A's Family Fun Pack is sponsored by The Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times and San Jose Mercury News.

Discounted Tickets: Children 14-under, fans 60-over and active members of the military may purchase Plaza Outfield seats at a discounted price during the season.

All You Can Eat Section: Individual game tickets for the All-You-Can-Eat sections (316, 317, 318) are priced at $35 for regular games and $38 for premium games. Fans can enter the stadium on the West Side Plaza through the double glass doors and upon entry will receive a wristband that will serve as their designator to order food. Menu items include hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, ice cream and soda. A maximum of four items per trip to the dedicated concession stand will apply and menu items are available through the seventh inning. Water and adult beverages will be available for purchase at nearby concession stands.

Individual game tickets for the 2008 season are priced at $50 (MVP), $40 (Plaza Club), $35 (Field Level), $30 (Field Level Outfield), $30 (Plaza Infield), $24 (Plaza Level), $18 (Plaza Outfield), $13 (Bleachers), and $9 (Plaza Reserved).
