OAKLAND -- Following the game Tuesday night in Boston, the Oakland A's designated left-handed pitcher Dana Eveland for assignment for the purpose of securing option waivers. Eveland remains on the A's 40-man roster and if he clears waivers he will be optioned to Sacramento. A corresponding roster move will be announced on Wednesday.
Eveland was recalled by Oakland on Monday and started and lost Tuesday night in the A's 5-2 decision at Boston. He allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in 2.2 innings in a spot start for Dallas Braden, who was placed on the bereavement list on Monday. Eveland is now 1-3 with an 8.00 ERA in seven games, six starts, over two stints with the A's this year. The 25-year old left-hander was 7-1 with a 3.49 ERA in 12 games, all starts, with Sacramento.
