Harden has easy time with Giants

Righty tosses four innings of two-hit ball in final spring tuneup

Athletics at the plate: The A's took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Shannon Stewart. Eric Chavez scored the A's first run on an RBI groundout by Travis Buck.

Giants at the plate: Dave Roberts led off with a triple in the right-center-field gap and scored on a double to right by Omar Vizquel. Ray Durham had a one-out single in the sixth and scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 2.

Athletics on the mound: A's starter Rich Harden continued his dominant spring by holding the Giants to one run on two hits over four innings. Jay Marshall was charged with an unearned run after an outside pitch from fellow reliever Mike Mitchell got by Jason Kendall and allowed Durham to score.

Giants on the mound: San Francisco starter Matt Cain left after 48 pitches and two innings of work. He gave up one run on two hits and walked two. The Giants bullpen showed improvement, with Jonathan Sanchez, Kevin Correia, Vinnie Chulk, Jack Taschner, Brad Hennessey and Armando Benitez holding the A's scoreless.

Exhibition records: Athletics 15-12-1; Giants 15-16-1.

Up next: The Giants host the Athletics on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. PT at AT&T Park. Oakland right-hander Esteban Loaiza, who was bumped on Thursday because of tightness in his back, is scheduled to throw against San Francisco's Matt Morris.
