Duchscherer to throw off mound soon
Hurler continuing to progress after experiencing hip soreness

Geren confirmed Sunday that Duchscherer was doing better and could possibly start throwing off a mound in the next week.
Duchscherer, who is 10-8 with a 2.54 ERA in 22 starts this season, was not available for comment prior to Sunday's game against the Rangers.
The A's seem to be taking a cautious approach with their All-Star pitcher, especially since he is their only proven starter heading toward the 2009 season. With only two weeks remaining in this season, the probability of Duchscherer pitching again in 2008 is slim, but the A's have not ruled anything out.
In other news, shortstop Bobby Crosby, who has struggled at the plate over the past two weeks, was in the starting lineup for the third consecutive day Sunday. Crosby was 0-for-2 with two walks in Friday's game and had two hits -- including a three-run double -- in the A's victory Saturday.
"Bobby is swinging the bat a little better in the last few games," Geren said. "He walked twice the other night and had two hits yesterday. He's going to see some more playing time against lefties."
