"Everything feels great," said Carignan, who underwent the operation on June 19. "I've talked to enough people and kind of been around enough, so I kind of know what to expect, and I haven't had any surprises. So far, so good."
Carignan, 26, is from Connecticut, and he was in his home state over the weekend to support a charity of a former A's reliever, Craig Breslow. The rest of Carginan's offseason will be spent rehabbing at Oakland's Spring Training complex in Arizona.
Carignan is throwing from 90 feet now after he first began throwing about a month ago. He's building up his strength and doesn't expect to step on a mound until Spring Training.
"I'm on schedule as far as I know," Carignan said. "I'm taking it easy. There's no point in me pushing it."
Carignan's made 17 Major League appearances between the 2011-12 seasons, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA, 13 strikeouts and 12 walks in 16 innings.
