A's Send RHP Graham Godfrey to Boston to Complete Rosario Trade

The Oakland A’s sent minor league right-handed pitcher Graham Godfrey to the Boston Red Sox as the player to be named later in the Nov. 28 trade in which they acquired right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario.

Godfrey began the 2012 season with Oakland and had two stints with the A’s, posting a 0-4 record and a 6.43 ERA in five games, four starts.  He allowed a .317 opponents batting average and also issued 10 walks while striking out 10 in 21.0 innings.  Godfrey spent the balance of the season with Triple-A Sacramento where he was 9-2 with a save and 3.29 ERA in 20 games, including 17 starts.  He was outrighted off the A’s 40-man roster Aug. 29.  The 28-year-old right-hander made his Major League debut with Oakland in 2011 and is 1-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 10 career appearances, including eight starts.

Rosario spent the 2012 season in the Miami organization.  He began the season at Triple-A New Orleans, posting a 1.04 ERA and 16 saves in 25 relief appearances.  Rosario also logged an 18.00 ERA in four relief appearances with the Marlins.  He was designated for assignment Nov. 30 when the A’s acquired Chris Resop from Pittsburgh.
