All looked lost early in the season for the A's. But they made a valiant charge that didn't end until Tuesday night, when they were eliminated by the West-winning Angels. The bullpen was outstanding after starter Joe Kennedy gave up four early runs, and Marco Scutaro stroked a ninth-inning homer.
