Mariners rolling the right way
A's edged by Mariners By Bob Sherwin / Special to MLB.com
Right-hander Chad Gaudin was solid, allowing four runs on four hits over eight innings, but the Athletics fell to the Mariners. Gaudin struck out seven while walking one. Donnie Murphy provided all of Oakland's offense with a three-run double in the second inning. The A's left 19 runners on base. Mark Ellis had a pair of hits.
