Starter Dallas Braden was drilled by a line drive off the bat of Vernon Wells in the first inning, but stayed in the game, lasting six innings and giving up three runs. Unfortunately, as has been the recent trend with the A's, the offense could not provide Braden with any support, managing five hits on the day.
