Graduated from Stillwater HS (TX). Anderson was acquired along with pitchers Dana Eveland, Greg Smith, infielder Chris Carter and outfielders Aaron Cunningham and Carlos Gonzalez for pitcher Dan Haren on December 14, 2007.

Drafted out of Wagner (NY) College. Struck out a season-high 12 batters twice, on June 8 against Wisconsin and July 1 against Cedar Rapids. Made one start for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats and gave up one runs on three hits in eight innings against Tucson on Sept. 3 to earn the win.
