Major League Baseball has officially designated the Monday before the first day of playoffs as "Rally Monday," with all eight clubs involved in postseason play staging fan rallies in each of their respective cities.
The first Rally Monday in Oakland history was hosted by A's TV announcer Glen Kuiper, and included live entertainment from Bay Area band Wonderbread 5 and a raffle which consisted of great prizes such as ALDS tickets and autographed items from current and former players. All fans in attendance received an A's cheercard and postseason rally towel.
A highpoint came when Kuiper announced the nine former A's greats in attendance. Carney Lansford, Dave Stewart, John "Blue Moon" Odom, Vida Blue, Bert Campeneris, Dave Henderson, Billy North and Rickey Henderson treated the fans to a fun Q & A session. To conclude the night's festivities, fans watched video messages from several A's players and a highlight reel of some of the best moments from the 2006 regular season.
