The 2013 season marks Brian Snitker's seventh as the Club's third base coach and his 11th overall in three stints on the Braves' major league coaching staff. His two previous stints with the major league staff came as bullpen coach in 1985 and again from 1988 to 1990.

Snitker managed at Triple-A Richmond in 2006 after spending four seasons as the skipper of the club's Double-A affiliate in Greenville (2002-04) and Mississippi (2005).

Snitker, 56, joined the organization as a player in 1977 and has been with the Braves in a variety of roles ever since. The former catcher spent four seasons as a player. He retired at the conclusion of the 1980 season and began his coaching career as a roving instructor for the Braves in 1981. Snitker took his first managerial job in 1982, with Anderson of the South Atlantic League.

Following a three-year stint with the Major League club, he returned to minor league coaching in 1991 and moved back into managing in 1992 with Macon. He coached in the Atlanta system from 1993 to '95, and again served as a minor league manager from 1996 to 2006.

In his 17 seasons as a manager, he compiled an overall record of 1,140-1,145 (.499). Five of his clubs advanced to postseason play, and he won two league championships (back-to-back titles with Myrtle Beach in 1999-2000) and two league Manager of the Year Awards (also in the Carolina League in 1999-2000).

An Illinois native, Snitker played college baseball at the University of New Orleans before signing with the Braves as a non-drafted free agent in 1977. Snitker and his wife Veronica reside in Lilburn, Ga., and have two children, Erin and Troy. Troy, a catcher in the Braves' farm system, was drafted by Atlanta in the 19th round of the 2011 draft.
